UnREAL’s Freddie Stroma to star in ABC’s H.G. Wells show

As reported by Deadline, UnREAL’s Freddie Stroma—who will also be appearing on Game Of Thrones this season—has signed on to star as author H.G. Wells in ABC’s adaptation of director Nicholas Meyer’s 1979 film Time After Time. The movie, which was based on a book of the same name, centered on a young H.G. Wells (Malcolm McDowell) traveling into the future to fight Jack The Ripper and fall in love with Mary Steenburgen. Given the expanded nature of television, ABC’s version of Time After Time—which comes from The Following’s Kevin Williamson—will probably take that basic premise and turn it into a procedural where Wells decides to use his knowledge of time travel and sci-fi writing to help the LAPD solve crimes. Meanwhile, Jack The Ripper will be lurking in the shadows, expanding the show’s mythology and slashing people to death every time a season finale comes around.
