Unrest reunites for quick East Coast tour

There used to be this band in D.C. called Unrest. They started out in the '80s as a sludgy, funny punk group that really dug Kiss and Heathers. Then, in the '90s, they turned into a jangly, pretty indie-pop group that really dug Duran Duran and Heathers. It was then that they released two of the greatest indie albums of all time, 1992's Imperial F.F.R.R. and 1993's Perfect Teeth. They broke up in 1994, morphed into Air Miami (which sounded a lot like Unrest), and then splintered into lots of other little groups that were mostly fairly awesome.

And now, Unrest is back. As reported by Pitchfork, the band's final and best-loved lineup—singer-guitarist Mark Robinson, singer-bassist Bridget Cross, and drummer Phil Krauth—is reuniting for a brief East Coast jaunt this summer. Also playing select dates on the tour will be a handful of recently resurrected bands from the roster of Robinson's label, TeenBeat, including greats like Versus and The Rondelles (both of which will be playing the Brooklyn and D.C. shows). Dates are below:

July 6: Philadelphia, PA, Johnny Brenda's
July 7: Hoboken, NJ, Maxwell's
July 8: Cambridge, MA, TT The Bear's Place
July 9: Brooklyn, NY, The Bell House
July 10: Washington, DC, The Black Cat
July 11: Carrboro, NC, Cat's Cradle
