UPDATE: Beastie Boys' Adam Yauch has (hopefully) beaten cancer
It seems that those twice-daily meditations and/or Yoko Ono thinking about dancing may have actually worked: Beastie Boys’ Adam Yauch has been given a clean bill of health by his doctors, who say that he appears to have fully recovered from the tumor discovered in his parotid gland in 2009. This means that the Beasties can now move forward with the spring release of the first chapter of the two-part Hot Sauce Committee—which, as we reported in October, will be released in reverse-but-not-really order according to some sort of labyrinthine, Jorge Luis Borges circular construction. Which probably won’t matter, ultimately, because really it’s just a Beastie Boys album with songs like “Funky Donkey.” [Vulture]
UPDATE: Uh-oh, everyone jumped the gun. Late Friday night, Yauch released this statement through his publicist:
Hello My Friends,
While I'm grateful for all the positive energy people are sending my way, reports of my being totally cancer free are exaggerated. I'm continuing treatment, staying optimistic and hoping to be cancer free in the near future.
Stay strong, MCA!
