UPDATE: Carrie Fisher rushed to hospital after “massive heart attack” on plane
According to TMZ, Carrie Fisher suffered a “massive heart attack” while on an airplane. She was reportedly flying from London to Los Angeles, possibly as part of her book tour, and the emergency occurred 15 minutes before landing. An EMT who happened to be on the plane administered CPR, and Fisher was rushed to a hospital as soon as the plane landed.
Fisher has been in the news a lot lately thanks to her new memoir, The Princess Diarist, which revealed that she had an affair with Harrison Ford while filming the original Star Wars in the ‘70s.
UPDATE: Fisher’s brother, Todd Fisher, has told the Associated Press that she’s “out of emergency” and is in stable condition. He did not offer any other details about what happened, though.
UPDATE, 9:00 p.m. ET: Fisher’s brother has now walked back his earlier statement, saying she is in intensive care and that “We don’t know [her condition]. We hope for the best. We certainly do not know her condition, that’s why she is in ICU. I’m sure everyone wants to speculate, but now is not the time for that.”
Meanwhile, many of Fisher’s co-stars and admirers have taken to social media to show their support for her:
