UPDATE: Chance The Rapper is making a song with Stephen Colbert
Longtime Colbert Report watchers will recall that Stephen Colbert isn’t just a talented talk show host, he’s also an accomplished musician. Way back in 1986, his band Stephen And The Colberts released “Charlene (I’m Right Behind You),” which is easily one of the two best songs about relentlessly stalking a love interest. He came back in 2011, working with Jack White and The Black Belles to release “Charlene II (I’m Over You),” which is probably the creepiest song ever recorded about agreeing to stop stalking someone. Now, it sounds like Colbert is working on another hot track that (hopefully) won’t be about stalking.
As reported by Complex, Chance The Rapper recently revealed that he’s working on a song with Colbert that’s “gonna be released very soon.” Knowing Colbert, this is going to be the payoff to some clever gag or parody (like “Charlene”), so we almost don’t want to know too much about it, but luckily all Chance seems able to say about the song is that Colbert himself is “amazing.” Colbert has been on a vacation from The Late Show for the last week, so maybe he’ll debut this new song in the next next few days as a reward for the loyal viewers who graciously allowed him to take a whole week off.
UPDATE: Well, Chance wasn’t kidding when he said “very soon.” He just tweeted that his song with Colbert will debut tomorrow night:
