Clarence Clemons, the iconic saxophonist for Bruce Springsteen And The E Street Band, is reportedly “seriously ill" after a stroke Sunday at his home in Florida. Details are sketchy at the moment, but the 69-year-old has had various health problems in recent years, particularly with his knees and back. According to Rolling Stone, Clemons has had both knees replaced and spinal fusion surgery in the past year.
Still, Clemons has worked hard to stay on stage. He was last seen performing with Springsteen in December, and just last month, Clemons was on stage lending his sax to Lady Gaga’s “Edge Of Glory” on the season finale of American Idol. He was set to perform the National Anthem before Game 2 of the NBA Finals, but begged off at the last minute because of a hand injury.
UPDATE: Clemons is now "responsive and in stable condition" after undergoing two brain surgeries.
