UPDATE: Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus both drop Ivanka Trump’s fashion line

ABC News reports that department store chain Nordstrom has dropped Ivanka Trump’s signature clothing line from its online catalog and stores. A representative for the company stated that the removal of Ivanka Trump-brand clothing and jewelry from its shelves was part of a normal process of pruning poorly performing merchandise from its inventory, and had nothing to do with politics. (That being said we can only imagine “it didn’t sell” being even more galling for her father, President Donald Trump, than any political motivation.) The company has faced criticism in the past for carrying Trump’s line of products, issuing a statement last November hoping that “offering a vendor’s products isn’t misunderstood as us taking a political position.”

Trump’s clothing line has been a repeated topic of contention for critics worried that the new president and his family will seek ways to profit financially from his time in the White House. On more than one occasion—both before and after her father’s election—Trump has worn jewelry or clothing from her own line during public appearances, only to have it promoted by the brand’s social-media managers the following day.

UPDATE: It look like Nordstrom competitor Neiman Marcus has also dropped the Trump brand, with Fortune reporting that the Ivanka Trump jewelry line—including a $12,000 diamond bracelet—has been quietly removed from the chain’s online store.
