UPDATED: Michelle Obama isn’t going to be on Gilmore Girls
Netflix’s upcoming Gilmore Girls revival, A Year In The Life, has just announced its second most exciting guest star yet: Michelle Obama. (With apologies to the First Lady, nothing’s going to unseat the fan delight generated by The Return Of Sookie.) Obama posted a picture of herself today on her Snapchat account, alongside Alexis Bledel’s fast-talking up-and-comer Rory Gilmore.
Fans of the show will know that Rory has a long connection with the Obama family, dating back to the show’s 2007 series finale, when the younger Gilmore was hired as a campaign correspondent for then-Senator Barack Obama’s first presidential run. Apparently that worked out pretty well, in so far as she and Mrs. Obama now seem to be on a first-names-and-Pop-Tarts basis. We can only hope that the First Lady’s many years of service in the public spotlight will help her withstand the oncoming conversational deluge, when Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life debuts some time later this year.
UPDATE: It turns out Michelle Obama won’t have the chance to visit Stars Hollow after all. The photos shared of the First Lady with Rory Gilmore were actually photos of the First Lady with Alexis Bledel; they’re teaming up for Let Girls Learn. This just means that we won’t get to see Rory tongue-tied for the first time ever.
