UPDATED: NBC thinks This Is Us has at least 2 more seasons of twists in it
NBC is investing big time in the familial drama of This Is Us. As Variety reports, the network has renewed the hour-long show for two more seasons, each consisting of 18 episodes. This shows a huge amount of faith in Dan Fogelman’s show, which started with a twist in its initial episode and has kept those coming in the first season. In The A.V. Club’s review we asked, “Can a pilot be too good? It seems unlikely, but that just might be the case for fans of This Is Us.”
Jumping back and forth in time, the multigenerational plot follows the Pearsons, played by the likes of Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore, Sterling K. Brown, Chrissy Metz, and Justin Hartley. The series garnered three Golden Globe nominations, including recognition for Moore and Metz.
UPDATE: Deadline reports that Katie Couric and Atlanta’s Brian Tyree Henry will guest star on some future episodes of the series. Couric will cameo as herself, and Henry will play an old friend of William’s (Jermel Nakia/Ron Cephas Jones) who appears in present-day scenes as well as flashbacks.
