UPDATED: Paul Thomas Anderson goes into the studio for new Haim video
Haim has unveiled the first single off its upcoming album with an accompanying video directed by none other than Paul Thomas Anderson. The song itself, “Right Now,” begins slowly with the sisters’ instruments and vocals emerging in pieces over a steady beat. But it builds to a big crescendo with both Este and Alana taking to drums as Danielle sings. The subject? An asshole who breaks hearts and then pleads about needing someone.
In the video, Anderson’s camera circles around a studio in long takes while the band performs. It too is almost deceptively simple. Haim will perform on Saturday Night Live when Melissa McCarthy hosts May 13.
UPDATE: Their full album, Something To Tell You, will be out July 7.
