UPDATED: Reggie Watts will be James Corden’s band leader on The Late Late Show

While CBS continues to prepare itself for the departure of Craig Ferguson from The Late Late Show, it’s already named Reggie Watts as James Corden’s band leader when Corden takes over in March. Watts is no stranger to the sidekick position–he’s spent three seasons as Scott Aukerman’s foil on Comedy Bang! Bang!. He also has commonality with Late Night With Seth Meyers’ Fred Armisen, as they’ve both proven apt at switching between the worlds of comedy and music without being afraid of letting them bleed into one another.

Watts isn’t the only new Late Late Show hire as the network brings in a showrunner, a pair of producers, and perhaps most notably Mike Gibbons–the co-creator and executive producer of Tosh.0–as the show’s head writer and co-executive producer. This move brings Gibbons back to The Late Late Show, where he previously served as head writer during Craig Kilborn’s tenure.
