If you’re of the opinion that USA’s Playing House “be bangin,” know that you’re in good company. USA has renewed the charming but low-rated House for a third season, and stars/co-creators Jessica St. Clair and Lennon Parham appeared before the gaggle at the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour to make the announcement themselves in an elaborate comedy bit. (Let’s just say if they’re not, in fact, best friends in real life, they’re the best actresses in human history.) St. Clair facetiously argued for the show’s renewal on the basis that co-star Keegan-Michael Key deserves an opportunity to do full nudity, and while USA has tweaked its blue-skies brand, that’s probably not going to happen. Characters are still welcome; testicles are not. Nevertheless, the announcement will come as a relief to House fans, who have been waiting for word on the show’s future since its second season concluded in early September. Neither an episode order nor an estimated premiere date was announced.
USA also announced a new drama series, Falling Water, which sounds like the result of a drunken hook-up between Inception and Netflix’s Sense8. Water tells the story of three unrelated people who gradually figure out that the keys to solving their respective personal crises—a catatonic mother, a missing girlfriend, and an abducted child—lie in a collective dream that links them to larger mystery. David Ajala, Will Yun Lee, and Lizzie Brochere will star as the trio of dreamers, and the show was conceived by Brotherhood creator Blake Masters and the late Henry Bromell, who won a posthumous Emmy in 2013 for his work on Homeland. 28 Weeks Later director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo helmed the pilot, which, according to USA programming executives, be bangin’.
