Val Kilmer owes $500,000 in back taxes, now has reasonable excuse for starring in shitty movies
As part of the same recent foray into movie production that has put a stop to Wesley Snipes martial-arts comedies and forced Nicolas Cage to agree to sign every contract put in front of him, the IRS has slapped Val Kilmer with a property lien of nearly $500,000 owed in 2008 back taxes. The lien includes Kilmer’s New Mexico ranch, which he’s been trying to sell since 2009 after realizing that he lived in “the homicide capital of the Southwest” and that “80 percent of the people in my county are drunk,” remarks that upset the local government and complicated his plans to run for governor for some reason. The good news is that Kilmer’s suffering is potentially your gain: He’s slashed the price of his ranch from $33 million to a relative steal at $18.5 million, and of course he now has dozens of new films in the works, including this thing which is real.
