Vanessa Bayer thinks “Weird Al” should re-brand as “Normal Al”

She’s helped out Drake, St. Vincent, and numerous other musicians with her wide-ranging media guidance. Now upbeat media consultant Janessa Slater is setting her sights on assisting America’s sweetheart and A.V. Club MVP “Weird Al” Yankovic. In the latest episode of Sound Advice, she throws out a number of suggestions for the pop satirist, including changing his name to cash in on the normcore trend, getting in a celebrity feud with Kenny G, and providing her with a song of her very own.

While we could always point out that Slater is actually Vanessa Bayer, and that her comedy video series on Above Average, it’s more fun to just note that Bayer’s clueless narcissist character actually seems pretty thrown by Yankovic’s willingness to go along with her suggestions. He’s certainly no Demi Lovato, that’s for sure. Future installments from the new season include interviews with Chromeo, Sleater-Kinney, Jenny Lewis, and more.
