Vanilla Ice "apologizes" for his life (but really just wants your attention)

In the video below, Vanilla Ice apologizes to the world for "Ice Ice Baby" as well as "the scandals, the lies, the gangs." But alas, it's not a sincere apology—just another way for Rob Van Winkle to get a tiny taste of the public eye once again. (Don't feel bad for him, he still has a grand piano.) Turns out the whole thing is just some sort of elaborate advertising scheme for Virgin Mobile; if you go to the site at the end of the vid, you'll see that those crazy "kids" at Virgin Mobile are offering you the chance to trip nostalgic through some of the crap you may or may not have grown up with, then vote on its worthiness. "Great music isn't how it's packaged," says the site. "It's how it sounds, how it feels, and what it means to you as an individual." Awesome, because all this time I thought I only loved Led Zeppelin for that kick-ass sliding cover on III.

There's actually a bunch of great video on Mr. Ice at the Virgin site, including a classic six-minute interview you should most definitely watch. It features what Nathan Rabin has cleverly termed "Wafrican American."
