Vera Farmiga boards The Commuter with Liam Neeson
Liam Neeson will next be unleashing his particular set of skills with a little help from Bates Motel and The Conjuring 2’s Vera Farmiga. According to Deadline, Farmiga has been cast in Neeson’s upcoming project The Commuter, which is described as a thriller with “Hitchcockian elements” but sounds more like the kind of action flick that’s come to affectionately be known as “a Liam Neeson movie.” She’ll play a mysterious passenger who boards a commuter train and entices Neeson with an opportunity that “has dire circumstances if he accepts.” Usually offers like these only have “dire circumstances” if the person fails, but apparently Neeson is leveling up his crisis management skills this time around.
Interestingly, this isn’t Farmiga’s first time playing a mysterious character in a commuter train-set thriller. She previously assigned a dangerous mission to Jake Gyllenhaal’s train traveler in Source Code. Maybe that’s how director Jaume Collet-Serra—who also worked with Farmiga on Orphan—knew she was the right woman for the job.
