Vice Principals is in full back-to-school swing
Here’s what’s happening in the world of television for Sunday, October 8. All times are Eastern. I don’t feel tardy.
Top pick
Vice Principals (HBO, 10:30 p.m.): There’s been so many Sunday-night premieres that we haven’t yet had the chance to welcome back HBO’s Vice Principals, now in the thick of the new fall semester. In tonight’s episode of the delightfully dysfunctional comedy, “a death in Russell’s (Walton Goggins) family forces Gamby (Danny McBride) to step up to the plate as North Jackson’s acting principal,” continuing his move back to power after getting shot in the season finale. Let’s see how he does! Kyle Foyle has an evaluation form all ready to be filled out.
Regular coverage
The Simpsons (Fox, 8 p.m.)
Outlander (Starz, 8 p.m.)
Ghosted (Fox, 8:30 p.m.)
Star Trek: Discovery (CBS All Access, 8:30 p.m.)
The Deuce (HBO, 9 p.m.)
The Last Man On Earth (Fox, 9:30 p.m.)
Curb Your Enthusiasm (HBO, 10 p.m.)
Wild card
The Good Place (Netflix, Hulu): For ignoramuses (like us) who have yet to catch up on one of TV’s most imaginative comedies, good news! Season one of The Good Place is now on Netflix; once we finally catch up, season two episodes can be rewatched on Hulu. So far, we are intrigued by Michael Schur’s lovely pastel-painted and froyo-filled view of the afterlife, but we suspect things only get weirder from here.
