Vine gets Rickrolled, then crashes
ABC News reports that Vine, the Twitter-owned six-second video service your friends insist is great but you haven't gotten around to trying yet, was crashed by a 16-year-old hacker on Monday. Despite assurances that Vine would neither give you up, nor let you down, the site did exactly that after Will Smidlein, a high school student and web developer, developed a workaround to the site's six-second limit, posting a three-minute video of Rick Astley singing "Never Gonna Give You Up." It's not clear how the video's length caused Vine's server to say goodbye, then run around and desert its approximately 13 million users, but suffice it to say nothing on the Internet is safe from the awesome power of the Rickroll.
