Vixen pounces from the web to primetime
Here’s what’s happening in the world of television for Wednesday, August 30. All times are Eastern.
Top pick
Vixen: The Movie (The CW, 8 p.m.): In 2015, Mari McCabe was introduced to the Arrowverse, in a six-part animated webseries that followed Mari as she learned of her true identity and her place in a lineage of heroes who can draw upon the powers and abilities of animals. With a different, live-action version of Vixen—Mari’s grandmother, Amaya Jiwe, played by Maisie Richardson-Sellers—poised to join Legends Of Tomorrow in October, it’s a good time for The CW to present both seasons of Vixen, stitched together into what’s being billed as Vixen: The Movie. The feature-length runtime will be padded with previews for the news seasons of The CW’s superhero shows and other never-before-seen footage, but the main attraction here is the title character, finally getting her primetime due two years after breaking new ground as the first heroine and the first hero of color to headline their own Arrowverse property.
Regular coverage
BoJack Horseman (TV Club Classic, 3 p.m.)
Wild card
Suits (USA, 9 p.m.): It’s a milestone episode for the attorneys of Suits, who both try suits and wear suits suited for an hour-long, escapist USA Network: A 100th episode, directed by Mr. Suits himself, Patrick J. Adams.
