Vote, then watch whatever the hell you want
Here’s what’s happening in the world of television for Tuesday, November 6. All times are Eastern.
Top pick
PBS NewsHour Election Night Coverage (PBS, 8 p.m.)/Mayans M.C. (FX, 10 p.m., season finale): Judy Woodruff is a smart person with a soothing voice. If you’re a person who can successfully watch election coverage without biting your nails, and then your cuticles, and then maybe just your fingers/hands/arms, she (and many other people, both on PBS and other news networks) await you, probably with lots of crazy animated maps. Later, Stephen Colbert, Seth Meyers, and the rest of the late-night folks will arrive to cover what’s happening, many of them live. It’s there. And it’ll still be there, even if you need to flip away for a bit.
And if you do, Mayans M.C. is wrapping up a compelling first season tonight—check out Danette Chavez’s thoughts here—and there are other options, too. The Gifted (Fox, 8 p.m.) is on. So is Lethal Weapon (Fox, 9 p.m.) if that’s your thing. Hulu has all of The Golden Girls. Netflix has Salt Fat Acid Heat, The Great British Baking Show, and Nailed It!. You can watch classic Doctor Who
episodes via Britbox, or the first season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel on Amazon Prime, or Issa Rae’s terrific Insecure through HBO. You voted, right? Watch whatever you want.
Regular coverage
Wild card
The Guest Book (TBS, 10:30 p.m.): TBS’s comedy anthology series returned for its second season a few weeks back, and we’ve got some catching up to do. This season is set in the oceanside Mabel Beach community, at a picturesque location called the Bare Feet Retreat. Crazy shit ensues. This isn’t the sort of series that requires intimate knowledge of the particulars, so we’ll simply note that Jimmy Tatro of American Vandal joins the regular cast this season, and guest stars include Martha Plimpton, Michael Kenneth Williams, Pete Davidson, Matt Walsh, and many others. If what you need most on election night is to hear American Vandal’s Dylan Maxwell say some dumb shit, head to TBS (and then maybe go watch those first two seasons of American Vandal again).
