Wait, someone wants to host the Oscars after all: Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin

And as predicted, the search for an Oscar host has quickly been concluded: According to Variety, Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin, co-stars of the upcoming Meryl Streep romantic comedy It's Complicated, have picked up the hosting gig that was turned down by Hugh Jackman, Ben Stiller, and Robert Downey Jr. Las Vegas oddsmaker Johnny Avello had Steve Martin at 25 to 1 (well behind Whoopi Goldberg), so here's hoping you all had money riding on him.

Regardless, this is almost certainly good news. Baldwin is funny on 30 Rock, and Martin has recently shown he's still got it, with… well, that episode of 30 Rock. Two hosts will make for an exciting change; the last time the Oscars had multiple hosts was in 1986, with the fairly hey-it's-the-’80s combination of Chevy Chase, Goldie Hawn, and Paul Hogan. But now that the search has come to an end, we can finally breathe a sigh of relief and start planning our office pools and writing those "What disappointing co-hosts!" morning-after articles.
