Walking Dead producer thinks the world might be ready for a detective show
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Walking Dead producer Gale Anne Hurd has picked up the rights to Relic and The Cabinet Of Curiosities, two books in the Special Agent Pendergast series by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. The books are about an FBI agent named Aloysius X.L. Pendergast who does FBI-like things like solving crimes and investigating mysteries, two concepts that are pretty hard to come by in television. He also really hates museums. Hurd’s adaptation will be called Pendergast, and while it’s unclear how many of Preston and Child’s books are on the table, it sounds like the show will mostly follow the plot of Cabinet Of Curiosities. Basically, it involves Pendergast using his FBI skills and hatred of museums to solve a murder in New York City that mirrors a “century-old mystery” with “links to his own family’s dark past.”
Pendergast is being developed at Spike TV, so that network can now add “hatred of museums” to its “shows for men” ethos.
