Warner Bros. has at least two more Lego movies planned before 2020
Like a kid randomly slapping plastic blocks together in the hope it’ll magically form a coherent structure, Warner Bros. continues to fill in the details of its glorious five-year plan—this time, with hints of two more movies in the studio’s rapidly growing Lego franchise.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio has already staked out Memorial Day weekends in 2017, 2018, and 2019 for animation projects, with The Lego Movie 2 set for May 26, 2017. According to the Reporter’s sources, the 2018 and 2019 dates—May 25th and May 24, respectively—are also reserved for brick-building action, although it’s not clear if they’ll be straight sequels, or spinoffs like the planned-for-2016 Lego Ninjago. Or maybe sequels to spinoffs, because at this point, Warner Bros. is just seeing how big a tower of Lego it can build. And if it falls over, jeez, they’ll clean it up, Dad.
So be sure to set your calenders for four-and-a-half years from now! Unless Marvel announces a K’Nex movie or something on that same date, of course.
