Warner Bros. opens Prince’s vaults, unreleased music coming next month
Prince was an incredibly prolific artist in his lifetime, and new—at least to us—material from the late great legend is on its way. Warner Bros. Records announced yesterday that it will be digging into his archives and releasing a bunch of music that had previously been unavailable. First, Prince4Ever, a greatest hits collection due out in November, will feature the song “Moonbeam Levels,” which was recorded back in 1982 during the sessions for 1999 but never used. It will appear on the record alongside hits like “When Doves Cry,” “Little Red Corvette,” and “Purple Rain.”
Then, an entire album of unreleased tracks is also apparently coming our way early next year, when a remastered version of Purple Rain is due out. Warner Bros. said that more information on that is forthcoming. Prince4Ever arrives November 22 in the U.S. and will be released globally November 25. It will be accompanied by a booklet with “never-before-seen photos” of the Purple One by Herb Ritts. Prince died back in April.
