Warwick Davis will also be in Star Wars: Episode VII

Filming is only three weeks away from being finished on Star Wars: Episode VII: Ecks Vs. Lightsever, and the cast is already bursting with veterans and newcomers. And yet, there is always room for Warwick Davis, size joke, etc. etc., get ’em out now, who confirmed today that he will be returning to the franchise with a role in J.J. Abrams’ upcoming sequel. Davis himself made the announcement today in a video titled “Will Warwick Davis Appear In Star Wars: Episode VII?” Fortunately for fans of Davis and Star Wars—and unfortunately for those hoping to see a Howard Beale-esque meltdown in which Davis rails against the inequities of the world—the answer is “yes.” It’s all a charming bit of comedy that recalls Davis’ show Life’s Too Short, save for the part where he’s not humiliated by Ricky Gervais.

Davis didn’t reveal the nature of his return to the franchise, his first since he appeared in Episode I: The Phantom Menace as Wald, the phantom menace. However, he did say last year that, this time around, he’d prefer not to be an Ewok anymore, and also he would like a lightsaber. Ergo, expect to see Davis playing an Ewok who’s immediately killed by a lightsaber.
