Watch Anakin and Obi-Wan’s lightsaber duel reenacted in front of a massive orchestra

Ask any Star Wars fan and they’ll give you a lengthy list of things they’d change about the prequel trilogy, with Revenge Of The Sith’s duel between Anakin and Obi-Wan on the lava planet of Mustafar ranking near the top. It isn’t the worst part of the prequels—hell, some people even like it—but it is very long, very computer-generated, and ends with a labored callback to one party having the “high ground.” Luckily, we have a new version of the iconic duel that’s, if not better than the original, at least a lot cooler.

These two opponents come from the Russian based School Of Saberfighting, where they use a combination of combat choreography and real fencing techniques to recreate and reimagine classic Star Wars duels. The speed and precision with which these two wield their very fake lightsabers is undeniably impressive, and having a symphony underscore the fight with a rendition of John Williams’ “Battle Of The Heroes” only adds to the drama.

Of course, since they’re relying on practical effects, the duel fails to end with either party losing multiple limbs in a fiery defeat. Instead, the foes exchange punches to the face and then seem to privately decide that finishing the fight isn’t worth it. This makes for an odd Darth Vader origin story but we’ll go with it as long as nobody screams “Noooooo!” into the heavens.
