Watch blockbuster films re-made using only stock footage

The people behind stock film footage company Dissolve seem to delight in putting together creative ways to show off their library of clips. Their latest effort is their best yet, employing clever uses of random footage to create impressionistic versions of famous blockbuster films like The Matrix and Titanic. Some of the shots are direct analogues for iconic ones from the movies being aped, while others are sly, hilarious allusions to plot pointsthe ending of their Top Gun bit being our favorite of the lot.

Plus, part of the fun of the video is reading the fake titles attached to each clip, and trying to figure out what the hell “Errand boy goes up a river to collect a bill,” or “A bachelor/mother runs an inn” might be before the stock footage makes it clear.
