Watch Cougar Town’s season finale secure in the knowledge that more episodes are on their way

Here’s what’s up in the world of TV for Tuesday, April 9. All times are Eastern.

Cougar Town (TBS, 10 p.m.): For the second year in a row, Cougar Town fans can enjoy a finale free of anxiety about the show’s future. The show responds in kind, using its two-part, hour-long finale to explore the budding of Laurie and Travis’ seasons-in-the-making romance and what could be Chick’s final days on earth. Well, we suppose the second of those developments doesn’t leave much for the fifth season to pick up on, though it could prove fruitful for Ryan McGee’s fan fiction concerning the wacky after-life adventures of dead characters from Bill Lawrence shows.

New Girl (Fox, 9 p.m.): A bachelorette party for Cece indicates that she’s really going through with her arranged marriage—which means we must be three episodes away from an epic, mid-wedding meltdown from Schmidt. Erik Adams sees the seeds of said meltdown in Schmidt trying to reconnect with an old girlfriend this week, but he’s not going to say anything because he wants to see where this is going.

The Mindy Project (Fox 9:30 p.m.): Mindy’s going to a conference in Santa Fe, which just so happens to be the home of her ex-boyfriend, Josh. Santa Fe, New Mexico? More like Santa Fe, New Ex-ico, right? David Sims is disappointed this episode doesn’t take place in Albuquerque, thus robbing him of the chance to make a million Breaking Bad/New Meth-ico jokes.

The Shield (11 a.m.): No, titles like “Dragonchasers” and “Carnivores” don’t mean that The Shield suddenly switches gears to become a fantasy epic about the Strike Team fighting giant lizards. That hasn’t stopped Brandon Nowalk from airbrushing a serpent-mounted Walton Goggins on the side of his van, however.

Home Movies (1 p.m.): This meeting of the Pizza Club has been called to order. First order of business: Watch the Home Movies episode “Pizza Club.” Second order of business: Eat pizza. Third order of business: Wash hands in order to keep keyboard grease-free during composition of review. All Erik Adams in favor say “Aye.”

Ladies Man: A Made Movie (MTV, 9 p.m.): Made always felt like it was a zero-to-hero comedy in an MTV reality show’s body—and with the help of a guy who’s directed several episodes of Awkward. and The Hard Times Of RJ Berger, it just might make that dream come true. It’s like the movie adaptation of Made is a Made episode in and of itself!

Ready For Love (NBC, 9 p.m.): The guy from Plain White T’s who’s featured in this new NBC dating show isn’t the one who wrote and sang “Hey There, Delilah.” And that’s surprising, because you’d think the guy who got that cloying melody stuck in everyone’s head for the entire summer of 2007 would need the matchmaking assistance of a TV show.

The Kandi Factory (Bravo, 10 p.m.): Kandi Factory star Kandi Burruss, meanwhile, is partially responsible for TLC’s “No Scrubs” and Destiny’s Child’s “Bug A Boo,” so she has a free pass to star in whatever dumb Bravo reality show she wants to. (Hopefully this doesn’t involve bringing another “Tardy For The Party” into the world.)

What?! I’m A Stripper (Logo, 10 p.m.): Logo’s answer to MTV’s True Life delves into the lives of exotic dancers, but not without taking on an ambiguously confrontational (like “I’m a stripper—what of it?”) and/or befuddled (like “Hold on a second—I’m a stripper?) tone.

Battledogs (Syfy, 7 p.m.): An exceedingly Syfy premise sets a “werewolf virus” loose in New York City. Mankind’s only hope: The maverick military man who’s bent the virus to his own will in order to create an army of lupine supersoldiers. Stupidity abounds!

Melvin And Howard (Flix, 8:30 p.m.): Based on a true story and directed by Jonathan Demme, Melvin And Howard tells the tale of the Utah service-station attendant who almost became a real-life Navin Johnson—had his claim to a $156 million inheritance from the late Howard Hughes held any water in court.

NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship: Louisville vs. Connecticut (ESPN, 8:30 p.m.): Both Louisville basketball squads made it to the championship game this year—to which UConn is all like “Big whoop, we did that all the way back in 2004—and both our teams won!”

Adventure Time: Last night’s episode can be described in two words: “Sword storm.” Which is coincidence, because Oliver Sava’s worst nightmares can also be summed up in those two words.
