Watch Cubs superfan Eddie Vedder sing at the World Series
Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder is a huge fan of perpetual World Series non-participants the Chicago Cubs, having spent some of his formative years living in or near the city. Pearl Jam’s last three Chicago performances, in fact, have been at Wrigley Field, and Vedder brought out various players and sang his let’s-not-talk-too-much-about-it Cubs tribute song, “All The Way” at one of those shows just this summer. At last night’s World Series game between the Cubs and the Cleveland Baseball Team, Vedder sang “Take Me Out To The Ball Game” during the seventh-inning stretch, an honor that he’s actually had before. Mashable called him out for an error he didn’t actually commit, but let’s focus on his singing and enthusiasm, both of which were above average, and which will no doubt lead the Cubs to their first World Series championship since 1908, which was a time when dinosaurs still roamed the earth and tickets cost only a ha’penny. Check out the video below, and below that, enjoy a 1992 video of a young Vedder walking around Wrigley Field and proving his city bona fides.
