Watch Isolation, a great zombie apocalypse short that’s entirely CGI
Isolation is an immersive, economical five-minute short that confidently invests in its protagonist. Its lighting and tracking shots suggest a filmmaker inspired by Christopher Nolan and David Fincher. Isolation also unfolds in a completely computer-generated world that looks like a convincingly real movie set.
What’s even more impressive is that Tomas Vergara, a Chilean director with an advertising background, crafted the story with a handful of animators, a couple of performance capture actors, and a tiny budget. (Comparisons definitely don’t do 2012’s Sir Billi any favors.)
The clip is below, but if you’re interested in learning more, The Daily Dot spoke with Vergara over email, learning about his Peak Pictures team, how they constructed the short, and if viewers can expect more from this story.
