Proving there’s truly a place for everything on the internet, it turns out there’s a YouTube show on which celebrities answer interview questions while eating increasingly spicy hot wings. Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele are the latest performers to visit First We Feast’s Hot Ones show, where they’re on hand to promote their new film Keanu, discuss their TV show, and chat about their comedy careers. While the video is a nightmare for those who hate it when people talk with food in their mouths, it’s a dream come true for Key and Peele fans, as they’re both on fire during this interview—in more ways than one.
Key and Peele start to express some concern after eating just two of the five levels of hot wings in front of them. They refer to level three as “battery acid,” but as the interview goes on they feel increasingly compelled to take on the challenge without any help. They refuse liquid and even give the host shit for drinking milk between wings. There’s a certain madness to watching them try to answer real interview questions with some level of cognizance as they become increasingly overwhelmed by hot sauce that moves from a score of 13,000 on the Scoville scale (a Serrano) to a score of 550,000 (a Red Savina habanero). But host Sean Evans keeps things moving even as Key and Peele start to lose the ability to string a sentence together.
