Watch late-night hosts tear into our dumb president's embarrassing United Nations speech

This week, people from all around the world put their differences aside for a moment to share in one of the few enjoyable experiences left to us in these nightmarish times—having a good laugh at Donald Trump. While speaking in front of the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, Trump made one of his signature boastful claims, saying, his administration “has accomplished more than almost any administration in the history of our country.” The patently false comment prompted some noticeable murmuring from the audience, triggering Trump to reiterate that his statement was “so true.” The gathering of international representatives then did what anyone would do in this awkward, absurd situation: They laughed in his damn face.

“Didn’t expect that reaction, but that’s OK,” Trump said with a smile, his brain flooding with dopamine because he got his favorite thing: a response. For years, Trump has been saying that America has become a laughing stock on the world stage and that other countries don’t have any respect for us, and there’s something sort of fitting about it finally coming true, albeit not in the way Trump intended.

It didn’t take long for the clip to make the rounds online, and when it came time for late-night hosts to deliver their monologues, everyone took a crack.

“And they say Donald Trump can’t bring people together,” said James Corden, adding that he can’t wait to see the president do this improvised stand-up set again on the next episode of “Comedians In Cars Committing Collusion.” Late Show host Stephen Colbert offered some words of comfort to Trump saying, “Don’t worry, Mr. President, they’re not laughing at you. They’re laughing with each other at you.”

Conan O’Brien joked that Trump was furious after the disastrous speech because “for a few seconds he accidentally made some foreigners happy.”

And, over on The Tonight Show, Jimmy Fallon dabbled in a little blue humor saying Trump hadn’t heard that much laughter since his night with Stormy Daniels. He then introduced a recurring, goofy segment in which they add Snapchat filters to video of Trump, which, it’s Jimmy Fallon, so you’ll have that sort of thing.

Of course, not everybody was reveling in the president’s buffoonery. Producers at Fox News took time to carefully edit around the laughter when sharing clips from the speech on Twitter. As The Daily Dot reports, it didn’t take long for people to notice the sloppy coverup and promptly mock the conservative outlet for their blatant bias.

Really, shame on Fox News. This isn’t a time for us to be divided, to draw lines in the sand. This is a time for all of us, regardless of race, creed, or nationality, to come together and get a good belly laugh at the expense of the big, dumb idiot in charge of our country.
