Watch Murs break the world record for longest rap marathon

Los Angeles-based rapper Murs is attempting to get in the record books. Since yesterday, the 38-year-old underground hip-hop artist has been sitting in front of a camera rapping along to a mixture of his own songs and classic songs from his childhood all in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for longest rap marathon. The marathon will end at 11 a.m. PST, totaling over 24 hours of continuous rapping (with one five-minute break per hour).

Readers might know Murs from the hip-hop collective Living Legends, his work with Slug from Atmosphere, or his countless other solo efforts. If you’re familiar at all with his work, then you know that his passion for hip-hop—as an art form, as a craft, as a culture—is unparalleled in the industry. That’s a big part of the inspiration for the #BarsForDays marathon, in addition to promoting Boost Mobile’s new unlimited music streaming feature. After hearing millennial rapper Lil Yachty’s remarks about not knowing about or caring to know about any older rap songs, Murs decided to use this live platform to “expose someone younger or unaware to the classics.”

So, check in on the livestream, rewind a couple hours, and expose yourself to some classic rap delivered for free by one of the greats.
