Watch out Emmys, here come the Paleys.

Via Yahoo: Looking to become to the Emmys what the Golden Globes are to the Oscars, The Paley Center for Media (formerly The Museum of Television & Radio) announced yesterday plans to broadcast its own television awards show, scheduled for May 2012 in New York City. The Paley Center seems to have timing on its side, attempting to secure a gainful broadcast rights deal at a time when the four major networks are renegotiating with The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for the rights to air an Emmys broadcast that is increasingly becoming a lavish infomercial for superior cable programming. Promising to bring a “fresh and distinctive” approach, the Paley Center announcement mentions reaching beyond television and awarding video across all platforms. Who’s ready for tuxedo-clad viral-video stars accepting award statues from Tom Selleck?
