Watch Pantera's Phil Anselmo wax rhapsodic about The Smiths

In Radio.com's "Essentials" series, bands chat about things that are important to them, or their own careers, or something. (I can't quite figure out if there's a running theme to the series.) In any case, an episode that posted a few days ago features Pantera's Phil Anselmo—also of DOWN and other growly bands—offering the highest praise for The Smiths. He spends six minutes waxing rhapsodic about his favorite songs, Johnny Marr's great musicianship, and especially Morrissey's wonderful originality. And when he compares Morrissey to King Diamond… You've got everything now. Just listening to Anselmo's gruff voice reel off lyrics is awesome. "Bingo! I'm a Smiths fan."
