Watch St. Vincent endure the indignity of Vanessa Bayer’s Sound Advice
Given that the lag time between episodes of Between Two Ferns has become roughly that of a school year, some of us are understandably starved for additional awkward-celebrity-interview web series with which to pass the time. Luckily, there’s Sound Advice to fill the void. The show, which appears on Above Average, stars Vanessa Bayer as media consultant and clueless narcissist Janessa Slater, interviewing musical artists with the ostensible goal of providing them with advice to further their careers. Past guests have included Haim, Tegan and Sara, and TV On The Radio, all of whom have politely sat through Slater’s sometimes-insulting, often-outlandish suggestions on how they could beef up their social media presence.
The newest guest is St. Vincent, a.k.a. Annie Clark, whose soft-spoken responses are perfect fodder for Slater’s stream-of-consciouness monologuing. Below, watch Janessa offer up potential new names for the singer-guitarist, ask her about the difficulty of living on another planet, and volunteer her services in leaking the rumor that St. Vincent doesn’t tip the staff when she stays at hotels.
