Watch the Cher/Golden Girls mash-up the world didn’t know it was missing
Combining not one but two things gay men love, someone has mashed-up Cher’s new single “Woman’s World” and scenes from The Golden Girls into a delightful musical anthem for female empowerment (or at least a delightful musical anthem for late ‘80s television). As Cher’s heavily autotuned voice belts out “I’m dancing solo/In the dark on the club floor” the video highlights pretty much every dance scene Golden Girls ever produced and (for some reason) a lot of footage of the ladies dressed as chickens. Dorothy, Rose, Blanche, Sophia, and Cher make a natural match (the show once dressed up Estelle Getty and Bea Arthur as Sonny and Cher), and if someone could “Turn Back Time” it’s not hard to “Believe” Cher would have made a great guest star on the program in which a couple of “Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves” and “Half-Breeds” “Found Someone” who helped them forget about singing a “Song For The Lonely” and instead embrace aging gracefully as “The Beat Goes On.” (Also, “Shoop, Shoop (It’s In His Kiss).”)
