Standout comedian, Inside Amy Schumer writer, Professor Blastoff podcaster, and all-around great lady Tig Notaro has been enjoying a well-deserved surge in popularity since the release of Live. And with so much life experience packed into such a concentrated stretch of time, she’s an ideal guest for Rookie’s monthly feature “Ask A Grown,” in which she responds to questions about making friends, body image, and dealing with a significant death in the family in a gently disarming and encouraging deadpan. It’s difficult to watch at times, especially when Notaro talks about losing her own mother unexpectedly and her grieving process. But it’s also more evidence that Notaro isn’t just a talented standup finally getting her due, but a genuinely good person who can offer positive reinforcement to young people looking for guidance.
