Will Forte has been teasing the idea of his “Jennjamin Franklin” sketch for a while now, and last night, the world finally got to see it. Forte wrote and pitched the sketch several times when he was at Saturday Night Live, but it was deemed too odd to ever make the cut. But it finally got its day on Late Night With Seth Meyers, as part of the inaugural installment of the show’s “Second Chance Theater”—where Meyers will let SNL players past and present perform sketches that were just too wild, weird, or whatever to get on air.
“Jennjamin Franklin” is definitely all three of those. It’s also surprisingly sexual, with Forte’s female Benjamin Franklin apparently being just what special guest player Jason Sudeikis needs in the boner department. Vanessa Bayer and Fred Armisen also make appearances in the sketch, which is truly out there in the very best way.
Speaking of Sudeikis, he’s promised to bring his long-thwarted “Juggling Flyer” sketch to “Second Chance Theater,” so that’s something to look forward to.
