Space is a very attractive setting for a movie—it’s the promise of mystery, the thrill of adventure, and the horror of the unknown, all wrapped up in a neat, often gorgeous package. The problem is that there aren’t many people who have been to space, so movies often have to guess and/or improvise the details. NASA astronauts Nicole Stott and Leland Melvin are among the few privileged humans to experience space, with over 130 days in orbit logged between the two of them. We asked Stott and Melvin about the movies that get space right.
