We have a winner in our hunt for the best alien abduction scene of all time

After a week of fierce battle, impassioned debate, and more than a few pauses in order to check the skies for any strange lights, we’re ready to declare a winner in The Greatest Alien Abduction, The A.V. Club’s no-holds-barred competition to see which space visitor sequence from TV or film deserves the title, “Greatest Of All Time.” Despite a valiant effort from Steven Spielberg’s groundbreaking alien film, Close Encounters Of The Third Kind, the final tally saw it lose by a hearty 30 percentage points to a beloved pop culture behemoth.
