We now join Legion’s search for the Shadow King, already in progress
Here’s what’s happening in the world of television for Tuesday, April 3. All times are Eastern.
Top pick
Legion (FX, 10 p.m.): When last we saw David Haller (Dan Stevens), he was an itty bitty projection inside some sort of orb-like prison, floating away from the body-swapping love of his life, Syd Barrett (Rachel Keller). When last we saw Oliver Bird (Jemaine Clement), he was possessed by the spirit of Amahl Farouk, a.k.a. The Shadow King, taking a groovetational road trip with good ol’ Lenny (Aubrey Plaza). When next we see any of them, that won’t be where they are: Legion kicks off its second season somewhere down the line, and if we know anything about TV’s most psychedelic X-Men adaptation, any answers about what happened between now and then will only raise more questions. Alex McLevy is here to wrap his head and yours around a season that’s been subtitled The Madness Of Crowds.
Regular coverage
Roseanne (ABC, 8 p.m.)
Black Lightning (The CW, 9 p.m.)
Rise (NBC, 9:01 p.m.)
Wild card
The Last O.G. (TBS, 10:30 p.m.): It’s been more than two years since The Last O.G. was announced, two years that have only managed to reflect positively on the TBS comedy: In that time, co-creator Jordan Peele won an Oscar, while co-star Tiffany Haddish ascended to a whole different plane of “I know who bit Beyoncé, and I’ll never tell” fame. And that’s saying nothing of Tracy Morgan, whose continued recovery from a near-fatal car wreck has led to this, the lead role in the story of Tray Barker, an ex-con who returns to Brooklyn after a 15-year prison sentence to find the borough overtaken by brunch-goers and trendy coffee spots. (So maybe time isn’t always kind…)
