We seem to be living through a Critters renaissance
Recently, horror streaming service Shudder announced that it would be airing a new eight-episode miniseries based on the Critters movies called Critters: A New Binge. Starring Joey Morgan, Stephi Chin-Salvo, Bzhaun Rhoden, Kristen Robek, Gilbert Gottfried, and Thomas Lennon, the “short-form” series—as explained by Bloody Disgusting—will revolve around the eponymous alien creatures running from space bounty hunters and crossing paths with a high school boy and his mother (who has some kind of dark past). The series, directed by Jordan Rubin, will premiere on Shudder on March 21, and you can see a trailer right here:
But wait! That might not be the end of the hot Critters news. According to a subsequent report from Bloody Disgusting, a Critters fan group on Facebook posted some apparent behind-the-scenes photos from a crew member on a new Critters movie coming from the producers behind Syfy’s Tremors sequels. It looks like The Cleanse’s Bobby Miller might be directing it, and original Critters star Dee Wallace might be appearing in it (since she was recently in South Africa to film something). That’s all we know, and it’s not much, but at least Critters is finally getting some modern recognition.
