We'd tell you who's joining the cast of Cobra Kai, but there are no spoilers in this dojo
[Warning: There are spoilers for Cobra Kai in this dojo.]
The first season of Cobra Kai was an unexpected hit for YouTube Red, the new pay-service version of the video streaming site. (And unexpectedly entertaining, for those of us who may have thought it was going to be wet garbage.) Now that the first episode has gotten more than 20 million views and a second season is greenlit, the series is looking to stock up on some new cast members. And the major addition that’s worth knowing about also constitutes a huge spoiler, especially for those who haven’t seen the finale of the first season. So we apologize for all the other headlines, including Deadline’s, that’ll spoil the surprise for you. But if you don’t mind learning who will be the major player in season two, read on.
As teased by the final scene of the last episode, the Cobra Kai dojo now run by William Zabka’s Johnny Lawrence gets a visit from an old enemy: John Kreese (Martin Kove), Lawrence’s former sensei who was last seen getting his ass handed to him by Mr. Miyagi (Pat Morita) after choking Lawrence in the beginning of Karate Kid Part II. What looked like a closing cliffhanger is now confirmed to be a big part of the next season, as Kove has signed on to be a regular cast member. There’s no word yet on his character, or what role he’ll play in the narrative. Is he still evil? Has he turned over a new leaf? Does he continue to act like a real douchebag, no matter the situation? We’ll know once Cobra Kai returns to crane kick your eyeballs in 2019.
