Weekend box office: The beast comes together

The summer-movie mutant appears to be in full flower now. Even if the series is a little tired, Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix predictably rocketed to the top spot with a $77.4 million take, playing smartly off the upcoming release of the series' final book. Sharing the top five: Action (Transformers, Live Free Or Die Hard), reliable family material (Ratatouille), and a wretched Robin Williams comedy vehicle (License To Wed). What's not part of the favored blockbuster salmagundi? Most notably, the ever-so-quickly fading torture-fest horror fad, as Captivity plonks into a 12th-place debut, taking just over $1.5 million.
