Weekend box office: The Simpsons Movie cleans up

Despite a conspicuous lack of build-up, The Simpsons Movie came out on top this weekend, raking in $71.9 million, the best ever big-screen debut for a TV adaptation. Last week's chart-topper I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry–a.k.a. the gay-panic Bosom Buddies–fell to second place, while many Harry Potter fans were clearly still stuck indoors with their noses in The Deathly Hallows: Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix continued its downward slide, grossing a mere $17.1 million and bringing its 19-day total to a paltry $241.8 million. And in the lackluster debut department, Who's Your Caddy?, I Know Who Killed Me, and No Reservations all pulled up predictably short–not even Little Miss Sunshine's Abigial Breslin and her droopy cuteness could save that last one.
