Weezer, once the poster boys for disaffected D&D players everywhere, have aged into a bizarre gang of “cool” dads who specialize in songs about chillaxing while still striking the occasional note of brilliance (see: 2014's Everything Will Be Alright In The End). They’re leaning heavily into the former with their new, Dave Sitek-produced single, “Can’t Knock The Hustle,” which serves as a spicy, ultra-shiny ode to (checks notes) Uber drivers. “Leave a 5-star review and I’ll leave you one, too,” goes one sample lyric, with several of the others finding frontman Rivers Cuomo in “You’d better look out, I’m gonna say fuck” mode. Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz stars in the above video for the cut, which marks the first single from their upcoming LP, The Black Album.
The Black Album, their follow-up to last year’s Pacific Daydream, will arrive sometime in 2019. In the meantime, why not revisit that “Africa” cover. That was fun, right?
