Weinstein films: only at Blockbuster?
Miramax has seemed progressively less and less edgy over the years, from the glory days of Pulp Fiction and Clerks to its purchase by the Walt Disney Company to founders Harvey and Bob Weinstein's departure last year. Harvey and Bob's new Weinstein Company has announced an exclusive rental deal with Blockbuster, Reuters reports. The story even promises a "a dedicated store and Internet display for Weinstein Co. titles," which will probably encourage the trend of production companies seeking viewer loyalty for no good reason.
It's not like this alone would keep the Weinsteins from producing a respectable number of good movies, but Grindhouse might not seem so cool when you have to schlep to your increasingly tacky local Blockbuster to get it on DVD.
