Welcome To Night Vale creators launch spooky new podcast, spookier podcasting platform

Since its start in 2012, Welcome To Night Vale has grown from a spooky, darkly funny podcast into a spooky, darkly funny pop-culture phenomenon, complete with hordes of enthusiastic young fans who greet the arrival of narrator Cecil Baldwin like the Beatles deplaning at Kennedy Airport. Now the show’s creators, Joseph Fink and Jeffrey Cranor, are looking to expand their unlikely media empire by launching their own podcasting platform, Night Vale Presents.

The first new show to air on this new platform—which, if it’s Night Vale related, is probably powered by a being of pure light with a severe peanut allergy—will be Alice Isn’t Dead, a serial fiction podcast detailing the adventures of a truck driver voiced by Fringe’s Jasicka Nicole. On the show, Nicole’s character will search the highways (and presumably byways) of America in search of her missing wife. Written by Fink and scored and produced by Welcome To Night Vale’s Disparition, the new series seems to be very much in the creepy spirit of its predecessor; a press release announcing the series name checks “not-quite-human serial murderers, towns literally lost in time, and a conspiracy that goes way beyond one missing woman.”

The first season of Alice Isn’t Dead will be released biweekly from March 8 to July 5 through all your usual podcasting sources.
