“Welcome to the magic” time-lapse details a day at Disneyland in 20,000 photos

There’s a tendency to cast Disney theme parks as places of either preternatural whimsy or surreal dystopia, but filmmakers Matt Givot and Dan Douglas’ time-lapse “Welcome to the magic ” takes neither route, settling instead on a more pedestrian nostalgia. Shot in a single afternoon at Disneyland in Anaheim, California, the short documents the ebb and flow of patrons, lights, and spectacle as a day at the theme park moves into night–all fittingly scored to the music of noted Disney aficionado Pogo (Nick Bertke).
